Dr Paul Cooper

Acting Director, Digital Health, Department of Health and Human Services

Paul specialises in strategic advisory services aimed at helping organisations make the most effective use of information and digital capabilities. He lectures and researches with Deakin University and Epworth Healthcare in the field of Health Informatics. He has a unique blend of insights from his experience in medical research, IT, business consulting and digital marketing.

Paul obtained a Ph.D at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (Melb. Uni), and subsequently a Grad. Dip. Business (Organisational Development) at RMIT University. He has higher qualifications in health informatics (CHIA) and completed the company directors course in 2002 (AICD). He has many years of leadership experience including as MD of a UK consulting firm reporting to the Australian parent organisation. He is a confident and accomplished leader, presenter and facilitator and has been widely engaged by clients for executive and board level consultancy. His engagements at board level have included workshop facilitation, risk and root cause analysis, digital marketing and digital innovation strategy formulation, program and project health checks.

Since 1988 he has worked as Principal Consultant in a broad range of industries, including higher education, health and telcos. Paul brings his energy and talents in eHealth, digital innovation, strategy development and transformational change to client organisations.

Paul is known for his high energy levels and strategic vision which helps bring colleagues and team members achieve goals. He believes strongly in the benefits of diversity and has been a diversity champion throughout his career.
